Trilogy to make first WBF appearance
A chance encounter by Wooden Boat Festival committee member Roger Bennett with Phil Dwyer at Marina YE one weekend presented the opportunity to bond over a common love – wooden boats.
Phil is the owner of Trilogy, built by Cayzer Boat Builders of Queenscliff for the Defence Deapartment as a work boat teaching divers. Based at Swan Island, Allan Cayzer (now the Manager of Marina YE that is home to Triology) was on the bow when she was launched in 1980.
The Dwyers purchased Triology from the Defence Department and carried out a refurbishment, which entailed stripping to the gunnels and rebuilding her from the deck up. Phil and his family have enjoyed many hours on the water with Trilogy over the past 20 years, and the original caterpillar 3208 engines (twin screw) still perform magnificently today.
With a hull of Huon Pine, full length keel of ironbark and ribs of spotted gum, Trilogy is a beautiful wooden boat that we look forward to seeing at the Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong from 10th – 12th March 2018.
