2017 Australian Wooden Boat Festival, Hobart
The Geelong Wooden Boat Festival 2018 has begun its promotional campaign in Hobart.
Donning bright red “Ask me” shirts, committee members of Wooden Boat Festival Geelong, Peter, Linda and Janet ventured south to visit the Wooden Boat Festival Hobart on a fact finding mission and to spread the word of our own festival to be held in March 2018.
The Australian Wooden Boat Festival, Hobart is a brilliant celebration of wooden boats and Australian maritime history. With a maritime marketplace full of commercial and hobby enthusiast exhibitors, displays of traditional shipwrights at work, symposiums on every aspect of wooden boats, a multitude of local wine & food industry outlets plus music and live entertainment, there was something to satisfy the curious, the enthusiast, the dreamer, the family and the child regardless of interest in wooden boats.
Hobart’s bustling waterfront and docks, surrounded by Salamanca Place market, the historic houses of Battery Point and the restored wharf buildings, is a perfect setting to show off the hundreds of visiting wooden boats from small home-made boats to beautifully crafted classic & modern wooden yachts to the largest Tall Ship afloat, Tenacious .The Festival also incorporated exhibitions and entertainment at the nearby Parliament House, the Maritime Museum and the Art Gallery.
With one year to go and enthusiasm as our companion, our goal to build on the already successful Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong , continues for March 2018.
